What is spiritual formation?

How we spend our day is, of course, how we spend our lives.” - Annie Dillard, The Writing Life

As human beings, we are always in the process of being formed. The question we are faced with is this – will we be formed in the image of Christ, or in the image of the world?

It is God’s work – not ours – to be forming us. Our work is engaging with God. It is relationship. Creating space for God.

At CFDM Northwest, we believe that we can become more aware of God’s presence and activity in our lives by cultivating practices, based in specific formation tools, which draw us into deeper relationship with God. Habits such as reading scripture, prayer, worship, and sabbath are well known in Christian circles, but can become rote or superficial without interaction with our Creator.
