centering prayer: consenting to gods presense and action within us
October 17, 2026
In centering prayer we sit in God's loving presence with no agenda, no requests. It's a prayer of open surrender to God's presence and action within us. In this retreat, you'll learn guidelines that help you to be still in God's presence, and we'll have the opportunity to practice this prayer together.
Centering Prayer is beautifully described by Thomas Keating as “…the opening of mind and heart - our whole being - to God beyond thoughts, words, and emotions. Moved by God’s sustaining grace, we open our awareness to God, who we know by faith is within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than choosing - closer than consciousness itself.”

seeking Jesus with our imagination - Imaginative prayer
November 14, 2026
How many times have you wondered what it would have been like to walk the roads of Galilee with Jesus, listening to him teach, watching him heal, and spending time with him as a friend? Our imagination is a beautiful gift, created by God, to help us encounter Jesus in the stories of the Gospels, offering our attention and our hearts as we watch him, listen to him, and follow him. This imaginative prayer workshop offers an invitation to “seek his face” in prayer and encounter Jesus in fresh ways.

Creative Rhythms
February 13, 2027
We will explore how creative rhythms in our spiritual practices enhance our senses and awareness of God’s love and presence in our lives; in others and in the world around us. Participants will be invited to engage in whatever form of creativity they are drawn to - it may be some kind of visual art; photography; music; dancing; writing; perhaps even gardening or cooking. We believe everyone is creative - sometimes we just need permission and space to explore its possibilities.

Sisters, Wendy Bryant and Cindy Waple (a CFDM Spiritual Direction and Formation alum), began curating creative contemplative opportunities in 2023 because of the richness both experience when they engage creatively with spiritual practices.
For Cindy, adding a creative component to her spiritual practices engages more of her heart, soul and senses, widening and deepening her experience of the Holy One and her own awareness. Often her creative explorations are simply a collection of markings, color, words and other mediums that reveal memorable and profound words and images.
Wendy often finds herself swirling in the wind like dried leaves on a Fall Day. Creative outlets in various media allow her to explore with wonder and discover that inner voice that often stumbles when restricted to only words. When in her “Heart Studio,” she freely engages with all media, recognizing a deep connection with the Divine, and even dancing on occasion with the Creative Spirit of God. Both desire to journey with others continuing to explore, experiment and experience a fuller awareness of the Holy One and ourselves as God’s Beloved.
Enneagram, Discernment and Prayer
March 13, 2027
Discernment is the gift and practice of living our lives from a deep sense of vocation, with wisdom, in the fullness of time. Each person's Enneagram journey holds profound questions that can lead us into deeper contemplation, a richer prayer life, and attentive spiritual discernment. In this retreat, we will explore how our dominant emotions shape our discernment; how the Enneagram can lead us into deeper listening around vocation and purpose; how to cultivate wisdom from the full range of intelligence - head, heart, and body; and how a better understanding of our time orientation can open us to experience God more fully across our past, present, and future. This retreat assumes a basic understanding of the Enneagram and that you already know your type. Together, we will discover new ways to pray and discern God's presence in our lives.

In this mini retreat we will explore our belovedness and what it might be like to live a life anchored in our belovedness, to live our successes and failures as the beloved child of God.
